Our Centres

We operate two centres. 77 Hutt Road, Petone, for children aged 6 months to 5 years. 2 Burnham Street, Alicetown, for children aged 2 to 5 years.
At 77 Hutt Road we cater for children aged 6 months to 5 years, and at 2 Burnham Street we cater for children aged 2 to 5 years.

Our centres are in the convenient locations for an early childhood education facility as it enables us to get out and about within the community with our children.  We regularly visit the Petone library, supermarket, Mitre10, local businesses – all of which are within easy walking distance.  If we need to travel further afield, such as Te Papa in Wellington City we can easily jump on a bus and/or a train to get there and we do!

Both centres are fully licensed by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and receive Government funding for a total of 30 hours per week per enrolled child.  We are licensed for a total of 47 children – 14 of these children can be under the age of two years, at 77 Hutt Road and 20 children at 2 Burnham Street.  We receive external performance reviews from the Education Review Office as per their review cycle.

Our philosophy is based on the natural environment and how we can nurture and protect this environment for future generations.  As this forms part of our daily curriculum and routine we are teaching the children (and families) about the importance of recycling and reusing, composting and growing our own produce (which is then used by the cook for daily meals at 77 Hutt Road).  The children recycle paper and card – we are part of the ‘paper4trees’ initiative which means that for all the recycling we do during the year we get native trees to plant in our garden.  We recyle all disposable nappies and other household items, such as cans, plastic, etc.  We have our own compost and grow fruit trees and vegetables.  We also ensure that children understand how precious our water is and therefore collect our own rain water for use in daily activities, such as sand and water play.
