Pito-one – Our Wild and Beautiful Beach
A project lead by Nichola Kirkwood, our Team Leader at Imagine Childcare Hutt Road, Pito-one – Our Wild and Beautiful Beach was written as part of our place-based learning journey wondering what used to be where Imagine is now.
We wanted to be able to share the history of the area in a format known and accessible to our tamariki, a picture book!
We used the idea of children at play to illustrate each segment of history, embedded in places special to us such as the foreshore of Pito-one Beach, Percy Reserve and our own centre.
We thank the tamariki and whānau of Imagine Childcare for their support.
