The Imagine Childcare Programme – Toddlers (18 Months to 3 Years)
Through the provision of a natural learning environment toddlers are encouraged and supported to extend their physical skills in a way that suits them using unstructured, open-ended resources. The toddler aged child will begin to become more independent and, by fostering in each child the belief that they are capable, kaiako will support them in learning to dress, toilet and feed themselves – Whakamana.
In the toddler programme tamariki will start taking responsibility for their belongings, and will be encouraged to play alongside their peers where they will develop social skills and begin to resolve their own conflicts and communicate their ideas and needs to others. Our toddlers will support each other in their learning – Tuākana-teina.
Your toddlers thinking skills and questioning abilities will be extended as qualified kaiako can provide meaningful and appropriate literacy and numeracy experiences. Toddlers will also begin to explore the wider community more often through excursions to other places.
Parents are valued as the child’s first educators and will be involved in decisions about their child’s learning and development.
